Project Brief
This seafront home nestled in Mumbai’s coveted the World Towers is a sweet ode to a California couple’s life story. An opulent living room greets you upon entry curvilinear in shape and the living room offers a front-row seat to the coastline. Modern & understated luxe brown Armani marble trucked in for the floor, brass accoutrements were added, and elegant textures were dappled onto the feature walls. Since the kitchen is not used regularly an open-plan layout has been introduced with an island to afford an expanded footprint for entertainment. The son’s bedroom is a zany take on California cool and solid blocks of blue define the wall, while a two-way headboard doubles as a characterful accent.
The bed is oriented towards the sea with touches of lavender, a custom floral headboard and fluted walls, the master bedroom is a relaxing oasis ideal for winding down after a long day. The Japanese cherry blossom wallpaper is a particular favorite of the owners and serves as the room’s tour de force. The guest bedroom sports a classic monochrome palette, while the bespoke wallpaper adds some visual variety. This home pays equal homage to the family’s past and present.
The powder blue sofa in the living room for instance nods to the neighboring seafront, while a cerulean vase on the dining table reminisces the Californian coastline. There are other emblems too English colors in the son’s bedroom doff their hat to the family’s trips to London, whereas the den is an ethnic hideaway where elephants and camels and an Indian village-scape bring the wall to life. The true crown jewel is the master bedroom and Japanese boudoir with a custom wallpaper of Japanese cherry blossoms and lifelike birds.
